Download kisk
Check the list below first, because kisk doesn't work without Npcap. Then get the installer, and expect one warning from Windows when you run it.
1. Check what you need
-
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
kisk was tested on Windows 11.
-
Npcap
kisk listens to the game's network traffic through Npcap, a free capture driver that has its own installer. Get it from npcap.com and, while installing it, make sure "Install Npcap in WinPcap API-compatible Mode" is ticked. If Npcap is missing, kisk's installer opens on a page that says so, with a button that takes you to npcap.com, and goes no further until Npcap is installed.
-
Windows text recognition
kisk reads the loot list with the text recognition built into Windows. It comes with most Windows languages, English included. If yours doesn't have it, kisk says so when it starts.
-
Aion 2 in English
kisk matches the loot list's text against the pet's English name. It was built against the Global (Steam) client.
-
A 3840x2160 screen, for now
The loot list's position was measured at that size, in borderless fullscreen, at the default interface scale. kisk scales it to other sizes, but there the count may not line up, or may not show.
2. Get the installer
Windows will probably warn you
kisk isn't signed with a code-signing certificate, so Windows doesn't recognise who made it. When you run the installer, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may show a blue box that says "Windows protected your PC". Choose "More info", then "Run anyway". Your browser may also ask whether you want to keep the file.
3. Install it
The installer sets kisk up for your Windows account only and doesn't ask for administrator rights. It has two options, both ticked to begin with: a Start menu shortcut, and starting kisk when you sign in to Windows.
4. Play
kisk has no window. Log in to the game and kisk active shows for a few seconds to the left of your character, a little above where loot is listed. That means kisk can see the game and has your soul counts. Pick up a pet soul and the count appears beside it.
If you were already logged in when kisk first started, it shows kisk has no totals: log out and back in, and +1 where a count should be. The game only sends your totals when you log in or move to another map server, so log in again and kisk has them. After that it remembers them between runs.
While kisk runs, its icon (a teal flame in a ring) sits in the notification area next to the clock, where Windows may keep it behind the ^ arrow. To quit, click the icon and choose "Quit kisk". To remove kisk, uninstall it under Apps in Windows Settings.
If no count shows up
- Check that the game is in English.
- Keep the loot list uncovered. A window opened over it hides the soul's row from kisk too.
- On a screen that isn't 3840x2160, or with a changed interface scale, kisk may be looking in the wrong place.
